This "semainier" or "weekly" lingerie chest with seven drawers, one for each day of the week was hand crafted in France around 1900. Marquetry and inlaid banding joins tulipwood, ebony, mahogany and satinwood in intricate designs.
The restored finish is in excellent condition with warm patina, preserving various shrinkage separations from age, see photos. Drawers have solid oak sides with hand cut dovetail joints and old discolored silk interiors. Brass pulls and mounts are original on this antique furniture. The black marble has been polished and given a low luster protective finish.
Size is 32 1/2" wide, 15" deep and 60" tall.
