This Renaissance design dining or library table or writing desk was hand crafted in Italy during the early 1800's. Solid genuine rosewood with mahogany center panels, every surface is hand hewn and planed. Rosewood has beautiful grain and is so dense and heavy that it does not float in water.
The restored finish is in excellent condition, preserving lots of mars, wear and losses for antique character. There are warps and shrinkage separations from age, see photos.
Drawers have hand cut dovetail joints and old brass hardware. Drawers are retreated from the top, but legroom underneath is just over 21" so this is difficult to sit under. Many very old tables and desks were like, this, people were shorter but knees were not expected to fit underneath.
Dimensions are 79" long, 39" wide and 30 1/2" tall.
