A traditional Georgian design secretary desk and bookcase from about 1915 was crafted of mahogany and signed "Rockford of Rockford, Ill." Inside are secret compartments. The pediment and finial, serpentine curved front and ball and claw feet are authentic.
The original dark finish is very well preserved with just enough wear and "crazing" from age for a little antique character. The writing surface inside has been revarnished for durability.
Keys and locks work on the bookcase doors and drop front only. Opening the front allows supports to extend automatically on this American made library furniture. Drawers have solid mahogany sides with dovetail joints, brass hardware is original.
Measurements are 38" wide tip to tip, 21" deep, 82" tall and the desktop is 30 1/2" high.
