A cast iron bookbinder's book press from about 1890 was used at a printer's to flatten books. The handle turns a giant screw, and this American made antique has a protective lacquer finish and is in working condition. There is a chip to the corner of the plate, see photos.
Overall size is 20 1/2" wide, 15 1/2" deep and 15" tall when at the lowest point. The plate fits books up to 10" wide and 10 1/2" long.
