Hand carved in the Victorian period about 1875, this armchair from Scotland has a wonderful heraldic crest or coat of arms that could be your family's.
Traditional thistle motifs and oak leaves are in high relief, this chair was carved by a master of fine grained solid oak with exquisite detailing. At the top of the crest, the head of the bird is missing and there are minor losses at the edges, see photos.
The restored finish is in excellent condition and the frame is strong and sturdy. Brass wheels are original on this English antique furniture.
The seat is comfortable and newly upholstered. Measurements are 25" wide, 29" deep, 44" tall and the seat is 19" high.
