A late Victorian or Eastlake period bookcase from about 1875 was carved of solid cherry, and signed by famous maker, "Matthews Bros., Water Street, Milwaukee." Delicate hand carved details are beautiful.
The restored finish is in excellent condition on this American made antique library furniture. Shelves are adjustable and the door has a working lock. Drawers have original brass ring pulls and "pine and cove" dovetail joints. Square cut nails are visible on the backside.
