This chest or cabinet from the late Victorian or Eastlake period about 1880 has locking doors, concealing an iron safe. Solid walnut with burl panels, there is incised carving.
The restored finish is in excellent condition on this American made antique furniture, there are typical irregularities in the intricate burl. Large lower drawers have round "pin and cove" joints.
The safe locks with a key, and has original pinstriping on the iron door. Inside are two tiny drawers with birdseye or curly maple fronts.
Measurements are 34" wide, 17" deep and 65" tall.
