Hand carved about 1850 in New England, this "Hitchcock" style "deacon's" or hall bench or settle has worn old hand painting with grape and acorn motifs and pinstriping. These traditional benches were also used in railroad stations and barbershops.
Sturdy and strong with rungs between every leg, this American made antique furniture has been reglued to serve another generation.
Measurements are 78 1/2" long, 23" deep, 35" tall and the shaped seat is 18" high.
