A remarkable architect or artist desk from the late Victorian or Eastlake period about 1870 has a leather top with five adjustable angled positions. Solid walnut with burl panels, there is a swing out inkwell holder. Incised carving and piercing are beautiful, the angled top is also useful for reading large books or folios.
The restored finish is in excellent condition, preserving just enough mars for a little antique character on this American made furniture. The drawer has hand cut dovetail joints and the key is a handle only, the lock does not work.
Measurements are 38" wide, 24" deep and 29" tall in the flat position.
