Carved of genuine rosewood about 1850, this elegant needlework or sewing stand doubles as a dressing table, there is a mirror under the lid. The secret compartment under the lid is opened with a lever underneath. Gracefully curved legs are deeply hand carved.
The original finish is in very fine condition, preserving wear and a few shrinkage separations for antique character. American made, the mirror has "smoke" to show its age and there is a warp to the top, see photos.
The drawer has solid mahogany sides, hand cut dovetail joints and a chamfered bottom. Below is a pull out hopper for needlework projects.
Size is 24" wide, 18" deep and 30" tall.
