From the Sheraton period about 1800, this picturesque secretary desk is solid birch and solid curly or "birdseye" maple. Hand carved in New England, there is a working lock on the dropfront only. Drawers and the corners have hand cut dovetail joints.
The old finish has great antique patina with lots of stains, mars and wear for a little character. Inside are tiny drawers with matching curly maple fronts.
There are pull out supports for the drop front. Drawer pulls are well over 100 years old but not original.
Measurements are 40" wide, 19" deep and 41" tall, the desktop is 32" high.
