A late Victorian or Eastlake period secretary desk with bookcase top was crafted of solid walnut about 1885.
The restored finish is in excellent condition, preserving a few mars for character on this American made antique furniture. A cylinder roll top with matched burl panels opens smoothly, inside are tiny cubicles and drawers plus a pen holder. There is new saddle leather on the pull out writing surface.
Lower drawers have dovetail joints, embossed brass hardware is original. The upper bookcase section is removables for easier delivery, shelves adjust on wooden supports. Square cut nails are visible. A key operates the bookcase doors only.
Size is 41" wide at the crown, 23" deep, 87" tall and the desktop is 30" tall.
