This miniature terracotta or red clay head is in the Pre-Columbian Mayan style of Central America. This is one of a collection found in a cigar box from the estate of an anthropology professor. Unfortunately, he left no documentation or description, so nothing is known about the origin or age of this work of art. These traditional heads were buried with the dead and used in sacrifices as well.
Hand formed, this tiny statue is about 2" tall.
