Entirely hand hewn of solid wormy walnut about 1790 in France, this marvelous historic cabinet has raised and shaped panels.
The old finish has warm antique patina, and has been waxed and buffed, so all that is needed to maintain the warm luster is an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth. Joints have carved wooden pegs, every surface is hand planed. There are warps and shrinkage separations from age, see photos.
Drawers have hand cut dovetail joints. Wrought iron and brass hardware is original, including lift-off hinges. Upper and lower locks have working keys on this Provincial furniture. The upper cupboard section is removable for easier delivery.
Measurements are 53" wide at the crown, 27" deep, 88 1/2" tall and the base is 36" high.
