Item# 34073
An Empire grandfather or tall case clock from about 1900 has an imposing solid mahogany case with flame grain panels and carved lion paw feet. The brass movement runs a week on a winding, and counts the hour and strikes the half hour. The movement signature is "Elite, Germany."
The restored satiny finish is in excellent condition on this American made antique furniture. A key operates both doors, the large door and sides have beveled and shaped glass. Shaped columns are well proportioned.
Exquisitely engraved, the dial is brass with gold plated and worn silver mounts. A hand painted moon dial and calendar work. the brass lyre pendulum and weights are original on this American made antique furniture.
Dimensions are 28" wide, 19" deep and 98" tall.
This clock needs to be "set up" when delivered - weights and pendulum attached and the case leveled. Most of our customers can do this as we walk them through the fairly simple steps by phone. The process is not very difficult, and it is also nice to know how to do this again whenever the clock needs to be moved for cleaning, painting or whatever. A few customers prefer to hire a local clockmaker at their own expense to make a house-call and set up the clock, which is usually not very expensive, depending on your location.
