Coastal waves in California are depicted in this original oil painting on board from around 1920, signed "Silas Dustin."
Dustin was born in Richmond, Ohio in 1855, although he is known as a California painter. He studied under William Merritt Chase in New York City and became the curator of the National Academy of Design in New York. He died in 1940.
This work of art captures "crashing" waves very well. The carved frame has its original dark bronze toned finish.
Overall size is 45 1/2" x 36" and 2 1/2" deep.
