A lovely American Empire sofa dates from around 1825, and is solid mahogany with flame grain panels. Hand carved classical lion paws, acanthus leaves and "cornucopia" or horn of plenty motifs are authentic. Upholstery is new in a design of the period, with double cording and matching cylindrical bolsters.
The restored finish is in very fine condition, the frame has been reglued to be strong and sturdy for another generation. The seat is firm and comfortable on this American made antique furniture.
Measurements are 80" long, 34" tall, 26" deep and the seat is 20" high and 21" deep.
