A wonderful Georgian period tall case or grandfather clock has been professionally serviced and still keeps accurate time since about 1825.
- Signed "W. Owen of Llanrwst," an ancient and unpronounceable village on the river Conwy in Wales, just west of Liverpool, England
- Hand carved oak case with mahogany inlaid banding
- Hand painted original iron dial with thistle and shell motifs
- Old finish has just enough wear for antique character and warm patina and has been waxed and buffed
- Hand cut brass hands
- Original brass movement runs for a week on a winding and has a bell strike counting the hour
This clock needs to be "set up" after delivery - weights and pendulum attached and the case leveled. Most of our customers can do this as we walk them through the fairly simple steps by phone. The process is not very difficult, and it is also nice to know how to do this again whenever the clock needs to be moved. A few customers prefer to hire a local clockmaker at their own expense to make a house-call and set up the clock, which is usually not very expensive, depending on your location.
Size is 21.5" wide, 10" deep and 87" tall including the brass finial.
