Farmhouse Country Pine Immigrant Trunk or Chest, Working Lock, 1877 #37316

A "dome top" country pine immigrant trunk or blanket chest is farmhouse antique furniture with hand cut dovetail corners. A hand painted inscription reads "MFAD, 1877." The giant hand wrought iron lock and key work, the lid locks automatically when closed.

There are wooden pegs, square cut nails, hand planing marks and hand wrought iron hardware.

The old grain painted finish has charming wear and great patina and has been preserved with clear varnish. Hand crafted in northern Europe, the interior has a compartment for valuables and has been wallpapered.

Size is 41" long, 19" deep and 22" tall.
