1895 Antique Secretary Desk, Carved Griffins

Expertly carved all around with winged griffin and vine motifs about 1895, this secretary desk from northern Europe is curly birch. The deep finish is in excellent condition, there are small mars and shrinkage separations from age for antique character.

Three dimensional artistry as well as the ball and claw feet show masterful craftsmanship. Upper corners show hand made dovetail construction. The drop front rests on pull out supports, the key is a handle only as the lock does not work. Inside are drawers and cubicles, a locking compartment and "secret" drawers. Graduated drawers have hand cut dovetail joints on this historic furniture.

Measurements are 43" wide, 21" deep, 43" tall and the desktop is 31" high.
