Intricately hand carved sometime after 1872, this spectacular two piece bedroom set includes a queen size bed and onyx and marble top dresser or chest. Solid walnut, the finish is in excellent condition on this American made antique furniture.
The berry and leaf motifs are expertly sculpted, showing Esthetic period influence.
Adapted to fit a standard modern queen size spring and mattress, photos show a set that are 14" thick together. Wood slats underneath are included, size is 7' 2" long, 66" wide, the headboard is 81" tall and the footboard is 31" high.
The dresser has a genuine onyx top flanked with black marble, all have been polished and sealed to resist stains. Original beveled mirrors have silvering losses - if this is not charming, they can be resilvered or replaced if desired. Drawers have hand cut dovetail joints and working brass locks, signed "Bayer, Pat. 1872." Sides have raised panels on this superior quality set. Dresser measurements are 54 1/2" wide, 23" deep, 78" tall and the base is 29" high.
