Masterfully carved about 1900, this marvelous back bar or server has stained glass, fluted columns, original bronze hardware and bold architectural lines.
The textured hand leaded windows are undamaged. Hand carved panels are surrounded by inlaid banding and marquetry in exotic satinwood.
Solid walnut, the finish is original and very well preserved with warm patina and a few shrinkage separations from age, see photos. The serving area has been revarnished for durability. Drawers have hand cut dovetails on this palatial antique furniture.
Handcrafted by artisans for a villa in northern Italy, attention to detail is unsurpassed. Pairs of carved capitals above the columns are slightly different right and left, we assume one pair was carved by the master and the other by an apprentice. The center open area has a wine grapevine motif. Locks are operational, and the massive bronze pulls are wonderful.
Two separate pieces for easier handling, measurements are 87" wide, 26" deep, 88" tall and the base is 40" high.
