A winged cherub or angel holds two fish aloft in this charming statue from about 1900, the brass plate is engraved "Peche," French for "Fishing."
The embossed script signature appears to be "Conistant," see photo. On the back of this undamaged work of art is also a foundry mark with "Made in France." Cast in metal, the sculpture is spelter, a white metal alloy.
The original finish is well preserved in soft green and bronze tones, with beautiful antique patina and very little wear.
Proudly displaying his catch, the cherub holds a fishing net and is beautifully detailed, captured in a naturalistic pose.
Diameter of the base is 6 1/2" and height is 18 1/2."
