Designer Coffee Table, Jester & Griffin Carved Sculpture Base, Tooled Leather
A large custom designer coffee table has a base with carved wooden sculptures of court jesters, and dates from about 20 years ago.
Jesters were the only courtiers who could be truly honest to a king without dire consequences, and were therefore important at court.
The original finish was "distressed" to look antique. Carved griffins support the center of the trestle base on this unsigned vintage furniture. The gold tooled leather top is subtly shaded.
Size is 67" long, 41" wide and 21 1/2" tall.
