Handcrafted in Holland about 1760, this understated oak secretary desk has a bookcase top. The old finish has exceptional warm antique patina with lots of mars, dings, and separations from age, see photos.
Every surface is hand hewn and planed, joints have hand cut dovetail joints. A large key operates the upper door and drop front locks, which are original. Lower drawers open with the key as a handle, their locks do not work.
The dropfront rests on pullout supports. Inside is another locking compartment with an iron key. The contrasting golden interior is chestnut on this historic Dutch library furniture, two separate pieces for easier transport.
Size is 42" wide, 22" deep and 7' 3" tall, the desktop is 31" high.
