An exquisite sideboard or server was artistically hand crafted in northern Italy about 1930. The famous black "Nero Porturo" marble top has a shaped rim, and has been polished and sealed to resist stains. The graceful walnut frame has hand carved detailing and subtly painted bronze highlights.
Raised panels have intricate inlaid marquetry in a herringbone pattern with thousands of tiny pieces of walnut, there is uneveness from age as shown. The original finish is very well preserved with a few small mars for character. Waxed and polished, only an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth is needed to maintain its warm patina.
Drawers have original cast and burnished bronze pulls, dovetailed joints and solid mahogany sides. The right and left drawers have working locks and removable velvet lined silver caddies.
Measurements of this elegant furniture are 6' 7" long, 22" deep and 37" tall.
