Lion Statue Antique 1900 era French Bronze Sculpture, Signed Lecourtier

Signed by famous French sculptor, "Lecourtier," this bronze statue of a Lion has a deep, almost black patina. Dating from around 1900, there is very little wear to this work of art from France.

Prosper Lecourtier (1855-1924) was a famous artist for his sculptures of animals, and as engraved on the base, he won a medal at the important exhibit, "Salon des Beaux Arts" in 1898 and was honored at the 1878 World's Fair, both in Paris.

One of his most famous statues is "Joan of Arc" at Place des Pyramides in Paris. There is also an elephant sculpture at the most famous cemetery in the world, "Pere Lachaise" in Paris, and a deer at the Bosque de Palermo Park in Buenos Aire.

A very naturalistic and detailed work, size is 17" long, 5" wide and 12" tall.
