Expertly crafted in Germany about 1910, an arched oak tall case or grandfather clock is in excellent working condition.
The brass movement has been oiled and is wound by pulling chains, striking the hour and half on a five note deep resonant chime it runs about just over 6 days before needing to be wound again.
All original, the hammered brass dial, weights and pendulum are richly embossed. The original finish is very well preserved, there are shrinkage separations from age for antique character, see photos.
The dial window is convex, the lower oval pane is beveled on this sophisticated furniture with understated hand carved detailing. Lock and key on the door are working, dimensions are 20" wide, 11" deep and 6' 7" tall.
This clock needs to be "set up" when delivered - weights and pendulum attached and the case leveled. Most of our customers can do this as we walk them through the fairly simple steps by phone. The process is not very difficult, and it is also nice to know how to do this again whenever the clock needs to be moved for cleaning, painting or whatever. A few customers prefer to hire a local clockmaker at their own expense to make a house-call and set up the clock, which is usually not very expensive, depending on your location.
