Carved of solid oak in the Renaissance style, this antique writing desk has a flip open top to become a map reading table, plus there is a secret drawer. It would make a wonderful wine tasting or kitchen island in todays home. Hand made during the 1890's, it has the look of the 1600's.
Linen fold panels, wooden pegs and hand planing are all show historic craftsmanship in this extraordinary antique furniture. The top flips open and slides to center itself, creating a 34" tall table for reading maps and charts.
The pull out desk area has cubicles for letters behind, a push underneath releases the secret door on the opposite side. Hand-carved heads support each corner of this amazing map desk, and the rich and deep brown original finish is attractively worn.
Closed, the desk is 46" long, 22" deep, 35" tall, and the writing surface is 29" above the floor. Open to the map table position, size is 44" x 46" and 34" tall. B-D1714
