Hand hewn of solid oak in Scandinavia or Germany about 1700, this large "treasure chest" or armor trunk has original wrought iron bindings and a working lock with giant key.
The renewed finish is in excellent condition on this historic furniture. Instead of nails or screws, carved wooden pegs secure the joints of this dome top trunk. Corners have hand cut dovetail joints. Inside is a small compartment for valuables.
There are shrinkage separations from age on this rugged European antique. The floor appears replaced well over 100 years ago.
Measurements are 56" wide, 29" deep and 36" tall.
