Carved of solid walnut with burl panels during the Victorian period about 1870, this child size desk has an upper bookcase section.
Bold moldings and arched glass doors are imposing. There is some revarnishing on the original finish, which is in very good condition with warm patina. There are minor mars, stains and shrinkage separations from age for antique character.
The top drawer pulls open and the front drops to make a writing desk at a child's height of 22." Lower drawers have hand cut dovetail joints on this American made furniture.
The bookcase section is a separate piece for easier moving, the door lock and key work. On the back side, square cut nails are visible, feet have been rebuilt.
Measurements are 51" wide, 19" deep and 84" tall.
