Said to be from an apothecary or drugstore, this Victorian secretary desk with bookcase top has combination locks on three different compartments. We have no combinations for the nickel locks, they protected confidential prescriptions and drug records. The locks appear complete, but we do not know if they are operational, we suggest contacting a criminal for help in figuring out the combinations.
Solid walnut with burl panels, this stacking three section desk dates from about 1880, and has had later rebuilding. The finish is excellent, the upper bookcase section has shaped and beveled glass plus shelves adjustable on wooden supports. There is a pull-out writing surface below cubby holes in the center.
Dimensions are 42" wide, 22" deep and 8' 4" tall.
