Victorian Barrel or Cylinder Roll Top Desk 1870

This style of nostalgic Victorian desk has a cylinder or barrel roll top. The pull-out writing surface is saddle leather, and above are tiny compartments with drawers.

Mahogany with flame grain, the matched grain on the roll is especially beautiful, note a dimple on the roll as shown in the photo. Drawers have solid oak sides with hand-cut dovetails. There is a gallery around the top which can hold books.

Solid and substantial, the mostly original finish has rich deep color with just enough mars and wear to give a warm "patina" to this genuine antique furniture from about 1870. Size is 49" wide, 30" deep, 57" tall, and the leather top is 30 1/2" above the floor.
