A magnificent Victorian Renaissance secretary desk has a bookcase with glass doors and dates from about 1865.
Solid butternut with panels of curly and burl walnut, this classic desk is in beautiful condition. The glowing finish is excellent with wonderful warm patina, there are small mars and lots of character, see photos.
The writing surface is gold-tooled leather. Behind the doors are shelves adjustable on wooden supports, small compartments and a locking drawer. All drawers have hand-cut dovetail joints. The upper bookcase section lifts off for easier handling.
This historic American antique has great lines. Even the back is tongue and groove solid butternut. The brass door lock works as well on this truly exceptional historic desk.
Measurements are 4' 4" wide, 32" deep, 6' 8" tall and the leather top is 28 1/2" high.
