This wonderful 1870's late Victorian or early Eastlake walnut secretary desk has matched burl panels and a stunning birdseye maple interior.
Classical lines accent the original finish and ebonized moldings. This desk is in very fine condition for its age, with just enough stains and mars for antique "character." The warm patina is beautiful, hardware is original, and on the top surface are wear, stains and plugs, see photos.
All drawers have exquisite hand-cut dovetail joints and there are visible square nails. The drop-down leather writing surface is sturdy and usable, and the golden interior has glowing and shimmering natural grain.
This is really transitional antique furniture from the beginning of Eastlake design. Size is 41" wide, 19" deep, 47" tall, and the leather surface is 30" above the floor.
