Carved of solid walnut with burl about 1885, a ship captain's or "Davenport" desk has a natural saddle leather writing surface. The gleaming finish is impeccable. A bank of drawers on the right side have hand cut dovetails, the door on the opposite side opens to a compartment. The center drawer has a functioning lock.
Historic American made furniture, dimensions are 32" wide, 24" deep and 41 3/4" tall, legroom is 26" underneath, and the desk top slopes up from 31" high at the front.
