This Victorian secretary desk and bookcase is from the "Steamboat Gothic" period about 1850, designed after the Mississippi riverboats of the Mark Twain era. The finish is in excellent condition with a few mars at the base, see photos. This picturesque American made antique furniture is solid walnut.
Drawers have hand cut dovetail joints. Keys are handles only, locks do not work. Upper shelves adjust on wooden supports, the bookcase is removable. The drop front rests on the top drawer when opened. Drawers have oval "racetrack" moldings.
Measurements are 44" wide at the crown, 20" deep, 83" tall and the desktop is 29 1/2" tall.
