This hand crafted Victorian period pine bookcase from about 1870 has a rustic elegance.
The old finish has warm antique patina and is very well preserved. Waxed and buffed, all that is needed to maintain the warm luster is an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth. Shelves are not adjustable easily and three do not go all the way to the back, see photos.
The key in the door is a handle only, the lock does not work. Drawers have hand cut dovetail joints and original ring pulls. Some back panels are salvaged wood with printing, see photos.
Two glass panes are original and wavy, two are later replacements on this American made library furniture. The crown lifts off for easier moving, the rest is a single piece.
Measurements are 61 1/2" wide, 20" deep and 92" tall.
