Ruggedly built of solid oak around 1900, this trunk, chest or hall console cabinet could also be a TV console. Intended as a dowry chest from Scandinavia, the finely carved detailing, wrought iron mounts and expert construction would have shown a bride's pride and prosperity.
The top has been revarnished for durability, the rest of the finish is original. Waxed and buffed, all that is needed to maintain the warm luster is an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth. There are small shrinkage separations from age, see photos.
The lock is incomplete on this European antique furniture.
Dimensions are 54" wide, 22" deep and 33" tall.
