A late Victorian or Eastlake period secretary desk with bookcase top was carved of solid walnut with burl panels about 1885. The cylinder roll top glides smoothly. Inside are a pull out saddle leather writing surface plus small cubicles and drawers for papers. Carved details are beautiful.
The restored finish is in very fine condition with some shrinkage separations from age and ink stains inside, see photos.
Bookcase doors have original wavy glass, shelves adjust on wooden supports. A key operates the locks in the doors only. Drawers below have dovetailed joints and brass pulls on this American made antique furniture. The bookcase is removable for easier delivery.
Measurements are 44" wide at the crown, 22" deep and 88" tall, the desk top is 29" high.
