This traditional Dutch "Kas," a dowry cabinet or armoire from about 1920 was hand carved of oak from Holland with genuine rosewood and ebony from the Dutch West Indies. These magnificent pieces descended with the daughter of a wealthy family, used to hold her dowry of silver, pewter, linens and china.
The bold crown, deep moldings and bun feet are classic. Hand carved lion heads and vines with grapes are artistic. Inside are shelves and a silver drawer. The large lower drawer has solid oak sides with hand cut dovetail joints. A giant key operates the door lock
Dimensions are 68" wide tip to tip, 24" deep and 74" tall.
