A charming diminutive chest was hand carved in the Renaissance manner about 1850 in Holland, and was either for a child or intended for jewelry or a collector. There is a roll top or "tambour" sliding door over small compartments and drawers.
The original finish is very well preserved on this Dutch antique miniature furniture. Waxed and buffed, all that is needed to maintain the warm patina is an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth.
The "bombe" base has ball and claw feet. Lower drawers have original brass hardware and hand cut dovetail joints. Hand planing marks can be felt everywhere and hand cut dovetail joints also secure the top, see photos.
Dimensions are 26" wide tip to tip, 12" deep and 40" tall to the top of the crest.
