A spectacular hall stand was hand carved of solid walnut in the Gothic manner about 1890 in France, and could also be useful in a dressing area. The marble shelf, carved head, brass coat and hat hooks and the shaped and beveled mirror are all original. There are carved wooden pegs at the joints plus genuine "linenfold" hand carved panels.
The original finish is very well preserved and has been waxed and buffed so all that is needed to maintain the warm patina is an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth.
There is a brass umbrella and cane rack plus a tin drip pan for wet umbrellas on this antique furniture. For safety and stability, this historic piece must be anchored to the wall.
Size is 38" wide tip to tip, 10" deep and 91" tall.
