Hand carved about 1860, this "bombe" design china or display cabinet was hand crafted in Holland, then shipped to the Dutch East Indies, where local artisans added the thousands of tiny pieces of intricate inlaid marquetry, and then returned to Europe.
The restored finish is in excellent condition, preserving lots of warps, losses, restorations and shrinkage separations from age for antique character. Mahogany and golden satinwood have beautiful grain. Drawers have solid oak sides and later pulls. The upper section is removable for easier delivery. There is old wavy glass in the door, which has the only working lock and key.
