Crafted of matched quarter sawn oak about 1900, this roll top desk is signed "Wallender, Wilder & Mattes, Decatur, IL."
The restored gleaming finish is in excellent condition, preserving a few mars at the edges for a little antique character. There are two pull out shelves for extra work space. Deep drawers have dovetailed joints, there is a file drawer as well.
Brass pulls and feet are original on this American made library or office furniture. The roll top glides smoothly up and down, inside are small drawers, cubicles and note holders. A key to a small compartment is a handle only, the lock does not work. The upper section is removable for easier delivery of this library or office desk.
Measurements are 60" wide, 34" deep, 43" tall, the work surface is 30" high and the kneehole is 24" wide and 25" tall.
