A secretary desk with bookcase top bridges the Empire and Gothic periods, hand crafted of mahogany about 1830 in Ohio. Arched windows and spiral columns are authentic.
The restored finish is in excellent condition on this American made antique library furniture. There are shrinkage separations from age, see photos. The desktop is new saddle leather.
Drawers have hand cut dovetail joints and chamfered bottoms, hardware is solid brass. Upper shelves are adjustable. Wavy glass is mostly original, there are a couple of hairline cracks, see photos. The upper section is removable for easier delivery.
Measurements are 45" wide, 21" deep when closed, 30" deep when opened and 76" tall.
