A picturesque small keepsake trunk or chest is an example of the folk art craze around 1900 of "pyrographic" or burnt wood carving. A hot iron tool was applied to solid maple to create "burnt" designs carved into the wood.
A difficult to decipher signature label is dated 1918, and may be a gift dedication.
American made, the restored finish preserves intricate detailing. Hardware is later on this antique hand crafted furniture.
Measurements are 24" long, 14" deep and 14" tall.
