This 1900 era Victorian version of the recliner was called a "Morris" chair, and the adjustable back has seven tilting positions. The signature plate was by the inventor, "Royal Chair Co. of Sturgis, Mich."
Carved of solid quarter sawn oak, new soft cushions are upholstered in a fabric design of the era, with zippers for easier cleaning.
The restored finish is in excellent condition. Tight and strong, the frame is reglued to serve another generation. A reclining iron mechanism is original, operated by a push button on the side, and works by moving the back. Cushions are removable.
Measurements in the upright position are 30" wide, 32" deep, 41" tall and the seat is 19" high and 18" deep.
