A monumental "Black Forest" back bar, sideboard or server was hand carved of solid oak in the 1870's. Three dimensional sculptures of lions, fruit and crane birds are artistic. This style of furniture is from the famous area where Germany, France and Switzerland meet, this outstanding example is French.
The serving top was revarnished for durability, the rest of the finish is original and very well preserved. Waxed and buffed, all that is needed to maintain its warm antique patina is an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth. Drawers have hand cut dovetail joints. Center doors have a working lock. Outer doors are slightly warped from age as is the upper gallery, see photos. This historic furniture disassembles for easier moving.
Measurements are 78" wide, 28" deep and 90" tall, the serving base is 38" tall.
