A stately classical hall console may have been a back bar, dining room piece or server. Richly carved of solid walnut, there are leaded stained glass doors with round cabochon jewels and a flawless large beveled mirror.
The high relief hand carving is masterful, side panels are raised and there are fluted columns at the corners. Embossed brasses are original, drawers have hand-cut dovetail joints. We see one small chip to the center beveled panel of the left door.
The deep brown finish is excellent with warm antique patina. There are minor mars to the edges and several shrinkage separations from age, see photos.
This palatial northern Italian furniture dates to the Victorian period, about 1890, and disassembles for moving. Measurements are 6' 10" wide, 18" deep, 8' 5" tall, and without the removable crown, height is 7' 9."
